Magic Bullet Looks
September 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Earlier I compared Apple’s Color against Magic Bullet’s Looks. In this post I’ll be showing some screen captures and getting deeper into ‘Looks’ interface and abilities. To reiterate what I said about ‘color’ vs ‘looks’, is that Magic Bullet provides us with a quick and easy to use color preset and editing environment. There isn’t a whole lot of speciality involved or required by ‘Looks’. It’s obvious to me that ‘Color’ is for the elite and the specialist. It’s for the large studio or the high profile projects. ‘Looks’ is for the cinematographers who have always wanted a ‘Photoshop’ for their clips. Lets look at the interface. I Couldn’t find anything else to use for an example so here is a the ‘before’ picture from the ‘set extensions‘ post I did a while back.
Just like any other plugin, look for Magic Bullet and select Looks. Click the “edit” button to get into the application. (more…)

Sun Stand Still Series Promo
September 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment
We had 1.5 days to knock out a promo for our “sun stand still” series. I had Chaz, a friend and co-worker, stand in for this shoot. The hardest part was getting a matte painting and a burning sun in the time I had to work on this. So with some heavy color effects to blend in the empty spots, I think it came out pretty good. Chaz did a good job and it was another long day in After Effects. (more…)

Cornerstone’s ‘The Loop’ Show
August 30, 2008 · 2 Comments
‘The Loop’ will replace the video announcements currently called ‘verbals’. The idea behind this approach is that it will break each announcement into distinguishable sections so people can comprehend what is being said better.

Set Extension – After Effects
August 26, 2008 · 4 Comments
During one of our ‘creative breaks’ I filmed josh and promise kicking the ball around. We do not have a strange gate, brick building or mountain behind those walls. I added them later. It is really hard to add extensions behind objects and usually you plan green screen spots to make the process easier. This procedure will be heavily used in the Flood Short Film.

Video Animations / Titles
August 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I had to make a few quick animations for FCC. The first one is the title of their announcement show called “the Advance”. Loretta Cooper is keyed out for either a 3D studio or a virtual world serving information via animations or backgrounds. Here is the title part and I’ll include some other pieces inside.
