Apple’s new: nano, touch and itunes 8

Nano
I’d agree that the iPod nano rocks like never before with an 8GB or 16GB model with 9 different colors to choose from. It comes with an accelerometer and apparently you can shake it to shuffle your music. I am not going to get one any time soon because I am still using my iPhone 24/7, but I’d love to hear about any users with a story.

Offered in a wide range of colors (nine total) for both the 8GB ($149) and 16GB ($199) capacities, the latest iPod Nano strikes a great balance of price and features. The iPod Nano 4G uses the same high-resolution 2-inch screen found on last year’s model, only now the included screen uses a portrait orientation covered with rounded glass. Video playback requires you to turn the iPod Nano 4G on its side, much like the Flash-based Microsoft Zune MP3 players. Unlike the Zune, however, Apple has included an accelerometer within the 4G Nano that reorients the display based on how the player is held, making it easier to view photos or switch the player into Apple’s Cover Flow music mode. The accelerometer also enables a new “shake-to-shuffle” feature that will automatically shuffle music playback when the player is deliberately shaken (a casual shake won’t trigger the feature). The shake-to-shuffle feature can be switched off under settings and the button-hold switch at the top of the player will disengage it, as well.

Touch
The new Touch comes with new design, longer battery life (36 hours of audio!), built in speaker and the app store. I understand there is a new and improved 3D engine to enhance gaming and interface. That would be pretty impressive on such a compact device. The Price? The touch 2G is cheaper: you’ll pay $229 for 8GB, $299 for 16GB, and $399 for 32GB of storage. (The original 16GB touch debuted at $399.)

iTunes 8
So whats the big deal, itunes will always be itunes. The way to control your ipods, iphone or touch. It’s how we have ben sorting, playing and buying our music for years, not to mention tv shows and movies. What could possibly be done other than adding more movies, etc? Meet Genius: a brilliant way to create perfect playlists. Play a song, click the Genius button, and iTunes creates a playlist of other songs from your library that go great together. Genius playlists help you discover songs in your library you never knew you had — and rediscover forgotten favorites.

I can’t say that i was sitting around waiting for this, but they have updated the Visualizer. Now you can really feel spaced out while listening to your music in 3D space, spheres, ribbons, etc. It still looks like iTunes… Oh well

where is the new laptop? good job anyway apple.
