Cornerstone Web Comps

August 14, 2008 · 2 Comments

I’m working on the new cornerstone website. We are hoping to use SiteWrench.com as the CMS. Here are the two comps I made. No, they are not done. The flash player is pretty intense, if you or someone you know can build a player with some pretty crazy mods and functions, please let us know. It’s a paid gig.

Comp 1:
I think “thin” sites are in, or at least are cool. There are too many sites out there that have too much going on, too many links, images and the desired destination can be hard to find. If this comp gets picked, you’ll get to see all the small details that make this site cool. There are small tabs on the right that allow the user to choose between 3 style sheets (skins). I know, impressive.

Comp 2:
I can already tell you that this is the staff favorite. It’s more “airy” and open. It will facilitate media players and images better because it’s wider. My favorite part about both designs is the flash player. Here is a basic run down of what I see it’s functionality being:

1. A typical slide show on a timer. However, each slide will have it’s own content area below it allowing for more information and interaction with the site and it’s contents.
2. There are small boxes in the control bar that allow the user to skip to various slides.
3. Each group (section, ministry) gets their own set of slides if the user chooses to view non “corp” slides. This allows many events to be pushes without being cluttered.

I have no idea how to code it because it would have to be easy to maintain and pretty smart. I think it will run off a variation of folders where media is placed with key names and a text file for the formatting, text and links.

Thanks for checking it out. I encourage your feedback.

These look slick good buddy! I’d say they’re due in for an upgrade on their site. Nice work! I think either design will be pretty sweet. I think personally I might lean more towards the first one. It looks like they might be the same, but it seems the second comp is wider.(?) Be cool if you added the screen dimensions to each for your critical content. (1024×768 or whatever…)

    Good work!
